About Sarala
Sarala is a Markdown editor that renders formatting in place as you type, so there is no separate preview pane. It handles tables, task lists, GitHub-style callouts, code highlighting for more than 100 languages, LaTeX math and Mermaid or D2 diagrams, and it saves plain .md files in folders you choose. Focus and typewriter modes, a command palette, an outline with search, and thirteen themes are included. An optional AI assistant uses a coding agent already on your computer, such as Claude Code, Codex or GitHub Copilot CLI, and shows each suggested change as a diff you accept or reject; voice typing runs offline. Sarala is free and open source under GPL-3.0 with no paid tier, for macOS, Windows, Linux and the web.
