Marmot is a data catalog that also works as a query gateway and MCP server, so people and AI agents use the same definitions when they work with company data. More than 70 plugins pull metadata from sources such as PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Kafka, dbt, Airflow, S3 and ClickHouse into one searchable list of tables, topics, dashboards and models, with owners, glossary terms, lineage and certified fields. Queries can then run through Marmot, which checks them against access rules, refuses ones that touch restricted data and logs every query. The core is MIT licensed and free to self-host as a single binary or on Kubernetes. Marmot Cloud has a free tier for 500 assets, Team starts at $595 a month, and larger plans are priced per compute unit. The site lists a London address.
