About Enroll
Enroll is a command-line tool for bringing servers that were set up by hand under configuration management. It inspects a Debian- or RedHat-family Linux host, collects the packages, services, changed config files, users and SSH keys that matter, and writes Ansible roles, playbooks and per-host variables from that snapshot. Harvests can run locally or over SSH. It can also diff two harvests to spot drift and send the result by webhook or email. Likely secrets, private keys and large binaries are skipped unless you opt in, and bundles can be encrypted with SOPS. Enroll installs with pipx, is free and GPL-3.0 licensed, and version 0.9.0 shipped in September 2026.
