PicoMQ is a stream server that keeps all records, including its write-ahead log, on S3-compatible object storage, with cluster metadata in Postgres or, for a single node, SQLite. Because nodes hold no state of their own, they can be added or replaced freely, and idle streams cost almost nothing, so it is practical to create one stream per order, session, device or job. Clients create, append to and read streams over plain HTTP, with long polling or server-sent events for tailing, or connect with standard Kafka producers and consumers; the Durable Streams protocol is supported too. It handles partitions, consumer groups, failover and live stream transfer between nodes, ships as a single Rust binary, and is open source under Apache 2.0 with Go, Rust and TypeScript clients.
